Firgun: What does it mean to us?

Firgun, in one word, embodies our lifelong passion- a dream nurtured by our experiences as young therapists committed to making a difference. From the very beginning, our vision for Firgun has been clear: to make therapy truly accessible to everyone who needs it. We understand that seeking help can feel daunting, overwhelming and at times, even out of reach. These barriers are what we want to target. We recognise that the foundation of every therapeutic relationship is trust, acceptance, safety and absence of judgement. At Firgun, fostering this connection is at the heart of everything we do. In shaping Firgun, we wanted to adapt to the evolving needs of today’s world while staying true to the core values that define therapy: empathy, respect, and transformation. Firgun isn’t just a space for healing, it’s a space where we work collaboratively with you to explore, grow, and thrive.

You’d ask- How is Firgun different?

The name Firgun reflects our mission: a space that joyfully and selflessly celebrates your growth. We offer a space where people share what helps them navigate challenges. We believe that therapy and healing should extend beyond the one hour spent with a therapist, which is why we foster ongoing conversations that help uncover what works and what doesn’t. This shared space allows clients, therapists, and anyone seeking help to learn from one another, breaking down the stigma around mental health and creating more warm discussions about healing.

How therapy at Firgun works?

Therapy Process
1

You decide if you’re ready to give therapy a shot.

2

You get in touch with us. We arrange a quick 30-min call at a mutually convenient time, to understand what you’re looking for and how we can help.

3

You and your chosen therapist will work as a team to formulate therapy goals, and plan on how to achieve them. Remember, therapy goes beyond just the one hour we speak. It will be uncomfortable before it gets better. All we ask of you is to show up and commit to your journey of healing.

Jayeesha Taneja

Jayeesha Taneja

Founder, Psychologist

I started Firgun not as a business, but as a means to an end. As a psychologist, writer, and storyteller, I’ve always believed in the healing power of stories — telling them, being heard, and creating space for growth. Firgun is that space: a platform for therapists, clients, and anyone on a journey of healing to share, connect, and feel seen.

Therapy isn’t a one-way process. At Firgun, we honour the spirit of mutual learning. As therapists, we grow with you, not just through progress, but through your setbacks too. We listen, reflect, and hold space for both the wins and the wounds, walking alongside you through the light and the dark.

As the founder and your therapist, my goal is to help you find your "right size", your unique path to healing. One of my favourite songs says, “All lights turned off can be turned on.” That’s what I’m here for: to help you find your light, switch it on, and be there when you need a hand to change the bulb.

My approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, drawing from attachment theory, Gestalt principles, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also incorporate trauma and art-based practices to better expressive spaces for healing. Each journey is unique, and I tailor the process to honour your individual needs and pace.

Qualifications: BA Journalism, Psychology, English; MSc Psychological Therapies

Founder, Rehabilitation Psychologist

Firgun started over a FaceTime call, continents apart, and grew into something that stands for all I believe my profession to be. I wanted to help people, the best I could. And that was something Jayeesha and I have always shared, and that is what we’ve poured into Firgun. One of my favourite movies has a quote that goes, “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things” and this is what I view therapy to be — the process of finding hope and creating meaning on days when it seems like the toughest thing to do.

At Firgun, and as an individual, I value trust and warmth and hope that I can create spaces that make you feel safe. We’ve aimed to make Firgun this safe space, and I hope you feel it too.

I’ve been trained as a rehabilitation psychologist, and the lens guides my approach as a professional as well. As a therapist, I best describe my practice as an eclectic one. The approach I take is trauma-informed, person-centred, strengths-based, holistic, and integrated with cognitive techniques tailored to the individual. I also integrate psychodynamic, interpersonal, emotion-focused and IFS approaches. I work collaboratively to find an approach that fits your story best and that is what I’m here for, to learn from you, to grow, to help you find hope, hold onto it, and rediscover it when it feels out of reach.
